In 1979, when my first book, What You Think of Me is None of My Business, was published, I had no idea of how intrinsically and fundamentally important it is to know how the mind works. Why? The mind, and everyone has one, is the cause of all misery, wars, fighting, pain, and suffering, until we take command, spiritualize, and make it our best friend. An uncontrolled mind is the greatest terrorist weapon ever invented—if you haven’t noticed.
What I am sharing here is some of what I have gained from applying the knowledge that I offer in my book. Before, I was actually very much controlled by the opinions and words of others concerning me. I cried more tears of self pity and misery than could fill the pacific ocean, almost.
I suffered greatly from feelings of not being good enough, pretty enough, rich enough, successful enough, you know all the stuff that we think about when it comes to wondering “What are they thinking about me? Do they like me or not, and what will that mean to me?” The constant question.
Now I know that whatever it is that others are thinking about me, more than likely has nothing to do with me, its the person’s perception based on their consciousness that is being triggered. When you realize that everyone has a mind and is thinking and believing, whatever, instead of trying to change, control, and stop others, its best and most beneficial to learn how not to allow others to harm, abuse, or stop you by controlling your own mind, emotions, and actions.
“A sober (mature) person, even when harassed by other living beings, should understand that his aggressors are acting helplessly under the controlof their own karma, and thus he should never be distracted from progress on his own path. This rule I have learned from the earth.” Srimad Bhagavatam 11.7.37
If you want to be happy, enthused, and empowered spiritually, mentally, and physically, the mission is to liberate yourself from the habit of automatically mentally and emotionally reacting to what people are saying and doing as well as to world events and happenings by developing the habit of being centered in my heart with a peaceful mind, where all is well and good while also being the balanced observer from the high watch.
The most important practice is the ability to stand above the situation and perceive it for what it is, instead of always caught up in the conflict, drama, and arguments of who is right and who is wrong or to prove who is the guilty party to blame, when its our emotional reactions that are triggered by believing the thoughts from the mind, mine or others.
We live in a sea of thoughts, vibrations, stories, narratives, opinions, rules, and laws, all manufactured from words and their definitions, meanings, and pronunciation strung together as our sentences, curses, hypnotic trances, and word-conditioning. Philip K. Dick Science fiction, movie script writer wrote, “The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words.”
‘Therefore this entire universe which is like a dream is by nature unreal, nevertheless appears real, and thus it covers one’s consciousness and assails one with repeated miseries.” Srimad Bhagavatam 10.14.22
You can’t think out of the box, because thinking creates reality boxes. Words can hurt, words can inspire, words can motivate and words can depress and de-power, if we agree.
Use words to inspire, motivate, heal, nourish and prosper you as well as others. Have your mind work for you and not against. This takes work to also dig out any nasty thought forms that are sabotaging you from within. Its basically all hypnotic trance. Once you realize the trance, its over.
Cruel and heartless words such as: you are stupid, you can’t do anything right, no one will love someone like you, you’re a failure, your brother is smarter than you, you should go back to the gutter where I found you, you’re ugly, no one likes you, you’ll starve to death, you’ll never make it, etc., can cause horrific mental and even physical damage when these words come from people we love, believe, or accept as an authority, unless we have mastered the art of detachment and discernment and realize the Truth that always is.
Beyond words, each of us is telepathic and also possessing many extrasensory abilities, so we feel and sense what is going on in the world and cosmos, as well as with others. We have lifetimes of relationship stories, struggles, and glories, all ending in sorrow, death and loss stored in our memory bank, the mind system and Akashic records.
All this is brought into every relationship and situation because when others show up, they bring their programmed mind and memories with them, and we have ours. Arguments are two or more minds or groups of minds fighting a war always with at least two sides and can never be won, because we have already won the prize, its who we are. Therefore, I don’t play. Instead, I manage my own consciousness, aware of what is happening in the outer world, while being immersed in God consciousness with my mind at peace, while tasting Divine love & bliss.
“One should not disregard the actions of the mind. Conquering the life airs and the senses by intelligence endowed with sattva (goodness) one should bring the mind under control.” Srimad Bhagavatam 11.20.20
So, if you doubt your divine wisdom and trust the programmed mind, you are the one stopping you, because lies believed cast spells (spelling), curses, and trances over your God consciousness that perverts your spiritual vision and perception, as well as your manifestations/reality. Without spiritual teachings, there is no discernment as what to do and not to do to get your desired results.
There is no opposing power working against us, we have been word-programmed through fear and guilt, by evil intent, to comply and thus oppose and work against ourselves and others, until we say, “Enough, it’s over!”
Source does not abuse itself or us, we just need to, as Emerson, the philosopher said, “Get your bloated nothingness out of the way.” I add, “And, be open to receiving the sweetness, prosperity, and goodness of who you are by being harmonious with cosmic and divine law—do not deliberately cause distress to any sentient being, human or animal.” Karma is exact! I packed my book, What You Think of Me is None of My Business, with liberating knowledge and valuable exercises to work with to eliminate what you don’t want and bring forth the manifestations that you desire in your heart. With love, Terry
